Whats On ‘A Memory’

Mark Gibson

Margate has seen many things, the 90’s were no exception buzzing with skateboarders ripping up the streets with their skating and artful filming.

Mark Gibson, was a Margate raised, self taught Graphic Designer/web developer and filmmaker.

Mark’s love of skateboarding was from a young age and with a love of technology and cameras would go on to produce a variation of skateboarding projects, adverts and short films. Mark was a key figure in the Thanet skateboarding community. He inspired creativity and would rarely be seen without a video camera in his hands. “Skateboarding was all he talked about if he wasn’t skating he was filming skating” Marks short films have been archived away since he sadly passed away in June 2016. The films now re-edited as ‘The Ghost of Gib’ by a close friend and member of the group ‘The Outsiders’ He left behind some great memories on film that are still inspiring us today. In honour of Margate’s past and the talented Artist that was Mark Gibson aka ‘Gib’.
